Il 28° Campionato del Mondo IAU 100 km su strada (con abbinato il 23° Campionato Europeo IAU 100 km su strada) si svolgerà il 12 settembre 2015 a Winschoten (Olanda). Ecco di seguito la comunicazione da parte del Segretario Generale IAU con il link alla start list, prodotta dal LOC.

Sono 350 gli atleti in rappresentanza di oltre 37 nazioni: dimostrazione che la disciplina delle ultrmaratone è in crescita con nuove nazioni emergenti, prima mai rappresentate ai Campionati del Mondo. Certocon un ampio divario tra squadre che si presentano con ilnumeromassimo di atleti - uomini e donne - consentiti e altre nazioni più poveri e che appena adesso si affacciano alla disciplina delle Ultra che sono raprresentate da un nu numero molto limitato di atleti, se non a volte da uno solo.

The 28th IAU 100km World Championships will take place in Winschoten, the Netherlands on 12th Sept 2015.

The race will also have several concurrent championships, namely, the 23rd European Championships, 100km World Masters Championships and the Dutch Champinships.

In the absence of world champions Max King and Ellie Greenwood from Doha 2014, we will be crowning the new world champions, in Winschoten next weekend. Vasiliy Larkin and Camille Herron lead the men´s and women´s field respectively going into the race. Media Report

In addition to individual titles athletes will be going for the team finishes as well in both the World and European Championships.

(Media Report) Larkin and Herron lead the field at the 28th IAU 100km World Championships The 28th IAU 100km World Championships will take place in Winschoten, the Netherlands on 12th September 2015. These championships also have several concurrent championships alongside, namely, the 23rd IAU European Championships, 100km World Masters Championships and the Dutch Championships.

Two Hundred and Forty international athletes representing thirty seven countries will run around a fairly flat ten kilometer course In the absence of last year’s winners Max King (USA) and Ellie Greenwood (GBR) we will be crowing new champions in this event. Vasiliy Larkin (RUS) leads the men’s field having run 6:18:26 at Ispitai Sebia Ultramarathon in 2013.

He was just over the 6 Hour mark at the Comrades Marathon this year. Giving him company will be Steven Way (GBR) and Jonas Buud (SWE) with bests (2013-2015) of 6:19:20 and 6:28:57 respectively. Way has recently taken the ultrarunning world by storm while Buud is a perennial at the world championships podium. Former champion Giorgio Calcaterra (ITA) will also be in the field having won 100km del Passatore this year. Another well known name is bronze medal winner from last world championships in Doha, Jose Antonio Requejo (ESP) who will try to move up on the podium in Winschoten.

Three members of a team count for team standings. Japan will be entering a very fast men’s team with three runners under 6:40. Spain and Great Britain with their consistent performers will be looking for that top world and European team spots as well. In the women’s field, Camille Herron (USA) will be leading the field. She ran a very fast 7:26:24 at the Mad City 100km this year.

Two of last year’s podium finishers, Chiyuki Mochizuki (JPN) and Jo Zakrzewski (GBR), with bests (2013-2015) of 7:36:39 and 7:41:55, will be toeing the line to move up on the podium places and be crowed the world champion. Former world champion, when it was last held in Winschoten In 2011, Marina Zhalybina (RUS) will also be in the field alongside her teammate Irina Antrapova. In the team competition, Nikolina Sustic will be leading a very fast Croatian team. Japan, Great Britain and Sweden have a very fast team entered as well with Berg leading the team from Sweden after a 1- year hiatus.

The race promises to be quite an exciting one. We are looking forward to the festivities next weekend! Times based on 2013-2015
